An Investigation of Pre-injection Flow Characteristics in the Constant Volume Combustion Chamber without Fan using the Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) Technique

Reporter: Laoonual Y.

The aim of this work is to investigate the gas flow characteristics in the constant volume combustion chamber (CVCC) before premixed-combustion and also at the time of fuel injection by using particle image velocimetry (PIV) optical measurement technique. The cold test and hot test will be performed. The cold test for the time period before pre-combustion will be used to study the fluid flow characteristics of pre-injection gaseous mixture by using air. The hot test for the time period between pre-combustion and fuel injection will be used to study the ambient gas flow with the products of pre-combustion have properties similar to that of air containing 21% molar oxygen. The results will show the flow characterization of pre-injection gaseous fluid inside the constant volume combustion chamber before pre-combustion period and the gas velocities before fuel injection timing which can be used to improve the condition of CVCC for combustion study.
