Numerical simulation of the two-dimensional axisymmetric gas-liquid mixture motion in the gas-lift well

Reporter: Turarov A.K.

We study the problem of the motion of gas and liquid-gas mixture in gas lift wells. In [1], the one-dimensional model of gas-lift process is studied where the movement if the annular space and the rising pipe is described by partial differential equations of hyperbolic type. Based on these studies, this paper proposes a new two-dimensional model based on the Navier-Stokes equations written in cylindrical coordinates, which describes the physical processes occurring in the oil reservoir in more detail. Based on the principle of the operation of gas-lift wells, the computing domain is divided into three subdomains, in each of which the characteristics of the respective medium are taken into account. A computational algorithm for the numerical implementation of the model based on the use of two-step method of Lax-Wendroff [2] is proposed. The results of computational experiments for a number of test problems are carried out.
