In this paper, we present an algorithm combining pseudo-spectral [1] and discontinuous Galerkin finite-element method for solving 2D Helmholtz equation.  Use of pseudo-spectral approach is computationally efficient for a wide class of models of medium, however the complex topography of the free surface significantly reduces the convergence rate of the algorithm. So in this paper this method are suggested to be used in the deep part of the model, while discontinuous Galerkin finite-element method are used in near-surface part. Combination of the two approaches is implemented via domain decomposition technique.
