Previous events

Previous Conferences were held on the Russky Island near Vladivostok (2010) and  Listvyanka on Lake Baikal (2013). Both events convincingly demonstrated the deep interest of participants in the achievements of science and technology in nanotechnology and nanotoxicology areas.

I International School-Conference «Applied Nanotechnology & Nanotoxicology»
Vladivostok, Russky Island, Russia

For the first time the idea to bring together representatives of chemical and biological institutions was implemented in 2010. The main idea of the conference was to analyze the differences in approaches to developments in the field of nanotechnology, as well as an attempt to develop common ideas, directions and approaches to the field of nanotechnology.

The host organization was Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok, Russia). Together with the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis (Novosibirsk, Russia), a rich scientific program was developed, during which lectures of leading world-class specialists were presented. Along with them, the results of their work were presented by many young scientists and students, for whom this conference was an important step on the path of their professional growth.

All participants came to the conclusion about the importance of such event, and it was decided to hold a conference regularly. The next conference was held in Listvyanka in 2013.

II International School-Conference «Applied Nanotechnology & Nanotoxicology»

The second conference was held on the shore of Lake Baikal, where participants could enjoy not only a scientific program, but also this astonishing nature reserve. The natural ecosystem of Lake Baikal is unique, and there is no second such anywhere in the world. A diverse social program allowed participants to appreciate the beauty of this place.

The science program was no less good. Plenary lectures were presented by Vasile Parvulescu (University of Bucharest, Romania), Anna Shvedova (Center for Desease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Safaty and Health, USA), Stefan Vajda (Argonne National Laboratory Materials Science Division & Nanoscience and Technology Division, Argonne, USA), Kai Savolainen (Institute of Occupational Health, Finland), Feo Kusmartsev (Loughborough University, UK), Elena Ryabchikova (Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine SB RAS, Russia), Eckart Rühl (Freie Universität Berlin, Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Berlin, Germany), Yuri Volkov (Trinity College Dublin, Ireland), and Mikhail Moshkin (The Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia). In addition, during the conference 14 keynote lectures, and over 65 oral and poster presentations were presented.

The conference was remembered by all the participants as a platform for intense discussions and intellectual contests. The result was a deeper understanding of the problems and approaches of research from both - chemical and biological sciences.

The conference ended with an picturesque boat trip on Lake Baikal, which took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
