Russian Ethnography in St. Petersburg. XVIII-early XX centuries (The historiographical aspect)
ABSTRACT: This article attempts to examine the history of ethnographic study of the Russian people as a state-forming ethnic group of the Russian Empire in the XVIII – early XX centuries. The article shows the transformation of the study of the Russian ethnic group into a special scientific discipline, and highlights the main scientific institutions that have made a great contribution to solving this problem.
